A Legendary Celebration of Eddie Palmieri’s Music at the South Beach Jazz Festival

The South Beach Jazz Festival proudly presents a  spectacular tribute to Eddie Palmieri, “The Sun of Latin Music,” on Saturday, January 11, 2025,  from 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM at the Miami Beach Bandshell. Personally chosen to perform  Palmieri’s legendary music by Eddie himself, this all-star lineup features Louis Fouché on alto  saxophone, Luques Curtis on bass, Vicente “Little Johnny” Rivero on congas, Camilo Molina on  drums, and special guest Zaccai Curtis on piano. Joining them are GRAMMY-winning trumpeter  Brian Lynch and world-renowned trombonist Conrad Herwig, whom Palmieri has praised as “the  best trombonist on the planet.” Tickets are available now at sobejazzfestival.com

Originally scheduled to perform, Eddie Palmieri, the 88-year-old maestro—whose age poetically  matches the number of keys on a piano—will be unable to appear due to health reasons.

This  special concert serves as a tribute to Palmieri’s legendary career, offering fans a unique  opportunity to experience his music performed by an all-star ensemble who have shared his  journey and mastered his iconic sound like never before.

This unforgettable night celebrates Palmieri’s unmatched legacy in Latin Jazz, brought to life by  the musicians who know his sound best. Louis Fouché, Palmieri’s trusted Musical Director,  delivers his unmistakable alto saxophone brilliance, while Luques Curtis, a longtime member of  Palmieri’s ensembles, anchors the rhythm on bass. Percussionist Vicente “Little Johnny” Rivero  electrifies the stage with his masterful congas, and rising star Camilo Molina drives the pulse on  drums. At the piano, Zaccai Curtis, a GRAMMY-nominated artist and Palmieri’s chosen mentee,  honors the maestro’s style and innovation.

Adding to the night’s magic are Brian Lynch, a GRAMMY-winning trumpeter celebrated for  blending bebop and Afro-Caribbean sounds, and Conrad Herwig, whose groundbreaking Latin  Side series has redefined jazz classics for a new generation. Together, this powerhouse ensemble  promises an unforgettable performance that pays homage to Palmieri’s groundbreaking career  and timeless music.

This is a rare opportunity to witness the music of a living legend performed by a remarkable cast  of musicians who embody his artistry. Expect vibrant rhythms, virtuosic solos, and the  unmistakable sound that has earned Eddie Palmieri his place among the greatest figures in Latin  Jazz. From start to finish, this celebration will energize, inspire, and move audiences to their feet.
