Clase Azul & The Legacy of Mezcal on National Mezcal Day

Every October, Mezcal National Day honors one of Mexico's most iconic spirits, celebrating the deep-rooted cultural significance and craftsmanship behind its production. As mezcal continues to gain international acclaim, Clase Azul has made a name for itself in the industry with its premium artisanal mezcals. Known for blending tradition with innovation, Clase Azul showcases the diversity of agave plants and the rich heritage of mezcal, creating some of the most refined and sought-after products on the market.

Heritage

Mezcal, one of Mexico's oldest spirits, is crafted from various agave plants, unlike tequila, which exclusively uses Blue Weber agave. Since 1994, mezcal has been protected by a denomination of origin, with production taking place in several Mexican states, including Oaxaca, Guerrero, Durango, and San Luis Potosí.

Clase Azul honors mezcal's heritage by adapting traditional, artisanal processes influenced by local environments. For instance, Clase Azul Mezcal Durango uses volcanic rocks to roast cenizo agave, while Clase Azul Mezcal Guerrero employs river stones to cook papalote agave. This thoughtful fusion of tradition and local materials defines the unique flavors of each mezcal in the Clase Azul collection.

Artisanship

Clase Azul’s decanters are a testament to the skill and creativity of Mexican artisans, who transform the country's cultural expressions into meaningful, handcrafted works of art. Each decanter is meticulously decorated, featuring brushstrokes and decorative elements that give our spirits their unique character.

Clase Azul’s mezcal decanters are crafted using textured glazes and traditional artisanal techniques. The company supports its artisans' development and works to preserve their craftsmanship, helping to sustain Mexico's cultural heritage for future generations.

The Collection

Clase Azul offers a refined selection of artisanal mezcals, each crafted from distinct agave plants native to different Mexican regions:

Clase Azul Mezcal Durango: Produced from cenizo agave in Durango's semi-arid highlands, this mezcal is crystal-clear with a full body. It offers aromas of cooked agave and tejocote pulp, balanced by hints of smoke and fresh rosemary.

Clase Azul Mezcal Guerrero: Made from papalote agave found in Guerrero's humid highlands, this mezcal has a crystal-clear appearance with light straw highlights. Its full body carries notes of grapefruit zest, freshly cut wood, rosemary, toasted peanuts, and delicate hints of butter and daisies.

Clase Azul Mezcal San Luis Potosí: Crafted from green agave sourced from San Luis Potosí's desert region, this mezcal is crystal-clear with silver highlights. It presents a full-bodied aroma of cooked agave, caramel, green chile, sweet fruit, and freshly cut grass, with subtle floral hints.
