Experience Garza Blanca Resort & Spa Cancun

Perched on Mexico’s pristine Playa Mujeres Beach is Garza Blanca Resort & Spa Cancun, a new oceanfront resort with six heated pools, great dining, and a world-class spa. What better way is there to celebrate your birthday than to escape to an all-inclusive five-star beach resort? Unlimited cocktails and food, the beach, sunshine…. Let’s go!

Mexico’s new celeb-preferred resort serves up an elevated all-inclusive experience.

But first, cake – which is what awaits us in our suite, along with the most artistic “Happy Birthday” message to me crafted with dry, colored rice. It’s spectacular, as is the mouth-watering spread set out. Next to my birthday cake is a fruit and cheese platter and a bottle of wine. Garza Blanca’s staff certainly know how to make a lady feel special.

Garza Blanca Resort & Spa Cancun boasts remarkable accommodations, including, contemporary one-, two-, and three-bedroom loft suites as well as

swim-up suites. All 452 suites feature spacious private terraces, patio hammocks, and gorgeous views of the Caribbean Sea. The resort has quickly become a celebrity hotspot, and has already hosted Riverdale’s Lili Reinhart, boxing champion Floyd Mayweather, and gymnast Simone Biles, winner of seven Olympic medals. Designed with luxury and the utmost comfort in mind, suites boast Tafer signature mattresses and linens, a personal butler, 24-hour suite service, a pillow menu, electric curtains, and nightly turndown service. The kitchens are appointed with full-sized refrigerators and dishwashers, and are stocked with plates, silverware, glassware, soft drinks, beers, and sweet and salty snacks, including Pringles, peanuts, and gummies. For your in-room dining pleasure, there is a dining room table inside, as well as one on the terrace, so guests can enjoy a sunrise breakfast or sunset dinner.

Our personal butlers, Enrique and Luis, leave us in our room to get settled. During our stay, we used WhatsApp to stay in contact with them. They assisted with everything we needed, from making reservations at the resort’s restaurants to drawing us a hot bubble bath while we were out. Talk about pampered treatment.

We slip into our swimsuits, put on our sunnies, and set off to explore Garza Blanca Resort. First stop, the adults-only rooftop pool. Situated at the center of the hotel, the rooftop pool provides stunning views of the palm-tree-flecked pool area below, and the white-sand beach juxtaposed against the bluest water. Comfy lounge chairs and daybeds are positioned around the infinity pool, and an alfresco, covered bar sits toward the back of the rooftop. We take a seat at the bar and order margaritas. The sun is shining, live music is playing, and the libations are frosty –oh, this is the life.

DAO, a chic contemporary Chinese restaurant adorned with a massive Buddha and flickering paper lanterns overhead, is also found on the rooftop. Everything from the dim sum and entrees to our server and his dessert presentation (hello, fire show), impressed. There are a variety of restaurants on the property to satiate all tastes, including Blanca Blue, which serves breakfast and Mexican fare; Hiroshi, which serves Japanese Cuisine; Bocados Steak House; The Rooftop; Food Truck, which serves raw bar seafood; Snack Bar, which serves American and Mexican food, and Gourmet Hall, which serves 5 types of specialty cuisines. All the food was delicious.

We loved the cuisine at Bocados Steak House and Hiroshi. Hiroshi’s gourmet robata experience is exceptional. While seated at their outdoor robata bar, we were served 7 excellent courses that included signature drinks, handmade nigiris, cono handrolls, makisushis, miso soup, traditional grilled skewers, and dessert. The sushi was incredibly fresh and delicious, while the other dishes were seasoned and plated perfectly. Bravo, Hiroshi.

What truly makes this resort standout is the service. We interacted with myriad staff during our stay – at the bars, restaurants, front desk – and everyone was knowledgeable and always eager to accommodate us. We felt well taken care of here. During our tequila tasting at the lobby bar, we learned a great deal and enjoyed sampling a variety of fine tequilas. Now, I know the difference between blanco, reposado and añejo.

By the evening, we were exhausted from indulging in the sun, pool time, libations (thank you, swim-up bar!), and plentiful fare, and were honestly happy to return to our cozy turned-down bed adorned with chocolates and towel art (we had towel elephants, a baby penguin and a towel birthday cake created by our housekeeper, Anayanci). And we definitely took advantage of the 24-hour room service --late-night desserts and breakfast in bed are a must when you are on vacation.

Garza Blanca Resort & Spa Cancun also caters to families with their kid’s pools, Kid’s Club, floating Aqua Park, and TierraLuna Plaza, where you will find a picture-perfect merry-go-round.  This stunning resort has so many photo-worthy spots from the central pool with its acrylic wall and ample hammocks to the gorgeous lobby and rooftop infinity pool.
