Felipe Martínez Carbonell And The Vision Behind Beanwave Coffee
Updated: 3 days ago
Beanwave is not just coffee—it’s a movement. It’s the meeting point of art, film, fitness, and entrepreneurship, blending the past, present, and future in every cup. At the center of it all is Felipe Martínez Carbonell, a filmmaker, entrepreneur, and investor from Rosario, Argentina, whose passion for creativity and transformation led him to create a brand that goes beyond coffee.

Every Beanwave coffee tells a story. It’s not just about the taste but the experience and impact behind each bean. With a focus on quality, sustainability, and inspiration, Beanwave connects with those who seek something more in their daily routine.
Felipe has brought his experience as a filmmaker and creator to Beanwave, incorporating the essence of historical figures in art, innovation, entrepreneurship, and fitness. From visionaries like Nikola Tesla to sports legends like Hercules, the brand pays tribute to past figures who have left their mark in their respective fields.
In this conversation, we explore Felipe’s vision, the inspiration behind Beanwave’s minimalist and futuristic aesthetic, and how this brand is redefining coffee culture. We’ll also discuss his new specialty coffee and how it reflects his commitment to quality, creativity, and community.

Miami Living (ML): Can you tell us a little about the origins of Beanwave? How did you go from filmmaking to founding Beanwave Coffee?
Felipe Martínez Carbonell (FMC): I’ve always been a storyteller. Whether in film or business, everything I do has a narrative behind it. Coffee has been present in every stage of my life—long nights editing films, creative meetings, conversations with people who inspire me. Beanwave was born from that connection, from the idea that coffee can be a driver of creativity and innovation. It wasn’t a change, but a natural evolution.
ML: You have Argentine, Italian, and American heritage. How have these cultures influenced your understanding of coffee and business?
FMC: Argentina gave me the passion for the coffee ritual, the value of sharing a cup with friends, colleagues, and family. Italy taught me perfection in quality and the importance of every detail, from the bean to the preparation. And the U.S. gave me the mindset of expansion and growth, of taking an idea to the next level. Beanwave is the fusion of all that—quality, tradition, and innovation.
ML: Beanwave has a unique aesthetic—clean, modern, and futuristic. What inspired you to give it this style, and how do you think it enhances the coffee experience?
FMC: I’ve always been drawn to minimalism and timelessness. Coming from filmmaking, where visuals are everything, I wanted Beanwave to have a strong identity, distinct from conventional coffee branding. To me, coffee is more than a drink; it’s an experience. Beanwave’s aesthetic reflects that vision—clarity, innovation, and a touch of mystery, as if each cup opens a new story.

ML: The brand focuses on inspiring creatives, entrepreneurs, and innovators. How do you see coffee as a tool to help people think big and achieve more?
FMC: Coffee is fuel for the mind. It’s not just about energy but about focus—that moment when ideas take shape. Beanwave is more than coffee; it’s a reminder that every day is an opportunity to create something new, to push boundaries. I like to think that each cup can be the start of something big.
ML: You’re passionate about fitness and well-being. How do these values reflect in Beanwave? How do you balance multiple creative and business projects while staying healthy and focused?
FMC: Well-being is a fundamental pillar for me. A strong body supports a strong mind. At Beanwave, we seek pure coffee—no additives—that provides clarity and energy without excess. As for my routine, I train every day, follow a balanced diet, and, most importantly, manage my energy. It’s not about doing everything at once but about doing what matters with intensity and precision.
ML: Beanwave is launching a new specialty coffee. What makes it special, and why are you so excited to share it with the world?
FMC: Every Beanwave coffee is single-origin—we don’t do blends because we want to respect the identity of each bean and the story it tells. Our new coffee is a pure expression of its origin—intense notes, a unique flavor profile, and a sustainable production process. It’s the result of years of refinement and selection. For me, launching this coffee is like premiering a film—I want people to taste it and make it part of their own story.

ML: Do you have a favorite way to prepare and enjoy this new coffee? Any tips for those who want to get the most out of it?
FMC: I love the V60 or Chemex method because they highlight the purity of the bean, but it all depends on the experience you want to have. If you’re looking for intensity, espresso is ideal. My advice is simple: use freshly ground coffee, high-quality water, and respect the process. Good coffee is all about patience and attention to detail.
ML: You’ve directed award-winning films, worked with Hollywood legends, and created a coffee brand that is "more than just coffee." What achievement are you most proud of and why?
FMC: More than any single achievement, I’m proud of the consistency with which I do things. Whether it’s a film, a business, or training, I always give it my all. If I had to choose, I’d say what makes me proudest is creating something that inspires others—whether in film or coffee. That, to me, is success.
ML: Coffee culture is constantly evolving. How do you see Beanwave’s new coffee impacting the way people experience and enjoy coffee in the future?
FMC: Coffee is no longer just a drink; it’s an experience. With Beanwave, I want people to see it as part of their identity, as a reflection of their lifestyle. It’s not just about selling coffee—it’s about building a community of people who value quality, creativity, and innovation. I believe the future of coffee is more conscious, more connected to its origin and to those who consume it. And Beanwave is part of that future.
