Florida Players Gearing Up for 2024 Bobby Curtis Doubles State Championships

The most prestigious Junior Florida tennis tournament returns, as players get set for the 2024 Bobby Curtis Doubles State Championship. The late Bobby Curtis was a pioneer for junior tennis in the state of Florida as he had a resounding influence on youth tennis and helped shape it into the competitive field it is today.

Back in 2012, the USTA Florida Junior Counsel voted to rename the Junior State Championships in Curtis’ name for both singles and boules. The singles event happened during the summer, with the best that Florida has to offer competing for the title.

Now, they will gather again, but this time paired up with another player in hopes to become Bobby Curits winners. The competition will take place over two separate weekends, with the 16s and 18s happening October 5 through 7, and the 12s & 14s on October 12 through 14. All matches will be played at the USTA National Campus on the clay courts.

All four of the age groups will consist of Boys’, Girls’, and Mixed Doubles action. There are going to be some intense matches that you will not want to miss. There is still time to sign up for the event.*

The format for the Boys’ and Girls’ events will follow a best-of-three sets structure, with each set going to six games. The third set will be a 10-point tiebreaker, where players must win by two points. For Mixed play, it will be best-of-three sets, with each set going to four games. The final set will be decided by a 7-point tiebreaker. All matches will feature no-AD scoring and will be played on clay courts.

Some of Florida’s best have won this prestigious tournament, and this year’s field is expected to be better than ever. Registration is now open, so make sure you and your partner secure your spot as space is filling up fast.
