Gucci Brings Holiday Magic to Miami Design District With Festive Installation

Gucci has unveiled a festive installation at Sweet Bird North Plaza in Miami’s Design District, ushering in the holiday season with a dazzling display that blends the House’s storied travel-inspired heritage with the joy of the holidays.

Open to the public until January 7, the immersive experience draws inspiration from enchanted snow globes and pays homage to Gucci’s history, particularly its founder, Guccio Gucci.

The installation highlights key moments in Gucci’s journey, starting with Guccio Gucci’s early experiences as a porter at The Savoy hotel in London, which inspired the creation of his Florence-based boutique. Centered around Gucci’s iconic luggage pieces, including monogrammed suitcases and trunks, the installation features intricately designed miniature buildings depicting pivotal locations in the brand’s history. These include Palazzo Gucci in Florence’s Palazzo della Mercanzia, the Wooster Street boutique in New York City, and flagship stores in Paris and London.

Complementing the installation, Sweet Bird North Plaza hosts an expanded Gucci takeover, featuring a series of Art Walls created in collaboration with American artist Corydon Cowansage. Known for her abstract yet opulent compositions, Cowansage designed three murals that incorporate biomorphic shapes and vibrant palettes, showcasing floating forms against a pale blue background. Inspired by pioneering women artists such as Judy Chicago and Zilia Sanchez, the murals reinterpret femininity through anatomical abstraction. Cowansage’s work is also featured at Miami Art Basel in the Kaufmann Repetto gallery booth starting December 4.

Gucci’s celebrations extend beyond Miami, as the façade of Palazzo Gucci in Florence has been illuminated to echo the holiday spirit, tying the brand’s Italian roots to its global festivities. The Florentine display will remain lit until January 17, enhancing the holiday cheer while highlighting the House’s enduring legacy.

This festive showcase encapsulates Gucci’s dedication to art, heritage, and community, making it a must-see attraction during the holiday season.
