Legendary Bistro Pastis Opens in Miami

James Beard Award-winning restaurateurs Keith McNally and Stephen Starr (STARR Restaurants) have debuted New York City’s quintessential Parisian-style brasserie, Pastis, in Miami’s Wynwood neighborhood. Opened Sunday, April 30, 2023, the critically-acclaimed restaurant that anchored Manhattan’s Meatpacking District for nearly 15 years brings its relaxed Parisian design and menu of French classics to one of Miami’s most creative and booming neighborhoods.

The celebrity-frequented locale that transformed the Meatpacking District into a sought-after destination nearly two decades ago will undoubtedly generate the same buzz for Miami’s Wynwood, the bustling colorful neighborhood that’s a perfect fit for Pastis. McNally and Starr, both culinary titans in their own right, brought Pastis New York back to life in 2019 after the original location went on hiatus in 2014.

"Since first watching Miami Vice in the 1980's, I've been desperate to have a vice in Miami. Finally, opening Pastis in Miami I have one," says Keith McNally.

“For the last few years, I’ve had my eye on Wynwood. I’ve witnessed the vibrant and artistic neighborhood transform into a booming cultural hub with an incredible dining scene,” says Stephen Starr. “Since opening my first South Florida restaurant in 2009, I’ve watched the culinary scene explode in this electric city and I’m thrilled to be a part of its growth. Pastis Miami will be a perfect addition to the community.”

McNally is the lead designer of Pastis along with Ian McPheely of Paisley Design. The restaurant transports guests to the classic Parisian brasserie reminiscent of the original location. Special touches, which the original Pastis is known for, are showcased throughout the space, including the iconic curved zinc bar, white subway tiles, and signature red banquettes. Another accent in the room is the original location’s gold-framed, hand-painted mirrors, which were created by designer Robert Padilla, who also fabricated the original mirrors in Pastis New York.

Unique to the Miami location, Pastis features a spacious outdoor garden and courtyard where guests can enjoy the beautiful tropical weather in Miami year round. While dining al fresco, guests are surrounded by a stunning enclosed pergola that is wrapped in black locust tree vines, a feature inspired by McNally’s home in Martha’s Vineyard.

Pastis offers dishes very similar to its sister location in New York City, including crowd favorites such as the French Onion Soup; Escargots; a selection of Steak Frites; Moules Frites; and the perfectly-made Cheeseburger à l’Américaine. New additions to the menu include French regional specialties such as Snapper Provençal poached in a tomato and basil sauce, served with zucchini, olives and lemon; Tuna Carpaccio dressed in a lemon vinaigrette; Chicken Paillard topped with almonds and picholine olives; and a rich Gruyère Omelet with fine herbs. Raw bar offerings like the Grand Plateau seafood tower round out the menu.

On the beverage front, an extensive French wine list highlights more than 300 offerings that represent all the major French wine regions, providing guests with a variety of selections to choose from. The wine menu embraces the benchmark producers of France along with a celebration of the Parisian state of mind – to always have a glass of wine in hand. Cocktails feature classics with a Mediterranean coastal influence. Highlights include the Mangue à Trois, made with Ketel Citroen, vanilla, passionfruit, mango and a side of sparkling wine; Lady Marmalade, a take on a margarita with Espolon Tequila Blanco, orange marmalade and fresh OJ; The Eiffel Sour, made with green chartreuse, alpine herbal liqueur, pineapple, lime and nutmeg; and a selection of spritzes, perfect for warm weather sipping.

Located at 380 NW 26th Street, the 8,000+ square-foot Miami outpost offers seating for 179 guests inside and 114 outside. Pastis Miami is open for lunch and dinner daily; brunch is offered on the weekends. Hours of operation: Monday - Wednesday, 11:30 AM-11:00 PM; Thursday & Friday, 11:30 AM-12:00 AM; Saturday & Sunday; 10:00 AM-11:00 PM.
