Miami Bus Stop Stories: Tropical Dreams Brings History To Life At History Miami Museum
Updated: Jan 16
Juggerknot Theatre Company, South Florida’s leader in immersive theatre, invites audiences to journey through Miami’s vibrant history with Miami Bus Stop Stories: Tropical Dreams. Hosted at the HistoryMiami Museum, this interactive theatrical experience takes center stage on February 13 and 16, 2025, with two shows each day. Tickets are free with museum admission and are available now.
Building on the success of its virtual predecessor, this live production delves into Miami’s evolution, transforming the museum’s permanent Tropical Dreams exhibition into a living tapestry of the city’s history. The experience invites participants to explore Miami’s founding, growth, and cultural resilience through vivid storytelling and interactive performances.
Audiences will encounter pivotal figures such as Julia Tuttle, the "Mother of Miami," whose efforts ensured the city’s founding; Mary Brickell, a key contributor to Miami’s early development; and L.E. Thomas, a champion of Black community empowerment, who played a crucial role in establishing Virginia Key Beach.
“Immersive theatre allows us to step into history, not as spectators, but as participants,” said Tanya Bravo, artistic director of Juggerknot Theatre Company. “With Tropical Dreams, we’re inviting audiences to walk through the moments that defined Miami’s identity, blending storytelling with history for a uniquely profound experience.”
The program, designed for all ages, is a collaborative effort between Juggerknot Theatre Company and HistoryMiami Museum. “This program aligns perfectly with our mission to connect people by sharing Miami stories,” said Natalia Crujeiras, CEO and Executive Director of HistoryMiami Museum.
