Miami Dolphins Odds for the 2024 Season

Dolphins fans will be hoping that the team will be able to start the 2024 season as strong as they did last year. They must have the drive and consistency to go one better though, as after the momentum slowed last year, the 2023 season ultimately became lackluster.

Obviously, the injuries didn’t help and contributed significantly, as did the team’s polarizing form. While they dominated weaker teams, they couldn’t pull together the same level of performance when they were playing more organized teams.

Can the Dolphins Win the AFC East?

Going into the 2024 season, several betting markets are available for Dolphins fans looking to place a wager. Obviously, one of the most popular outright betting markets that attracts the most offseason activity is who will win the AFC East.

You can get moneyline odds of around +200 for the Dolphins to finish at the top of their conference. Moneyline is the most popular betting format in the US market. The fractional equivalent of this market is 2/1, while the decimal odds are 3.0.

In layman’s terms, if you place a $100 bet on the Dolphins to win the AFC East this season, a winning bet will return $200. You can find details at askgamblers.com if you’re looking for more details about betting odds formats.

Do we think the Dolphins will finish at the top of the East? Probably not. Unless the Bills have an injury crisis or a nasty dip in form, the bookmakers agree that the Dolphins are second in the betting order to win their conference, with the Bills at around +125.

Super Bowl Chances?

Current odds put the Dolphins' chances of winning the Super Bowl at +2200, which is outside the top 10. We’d say that’s fair as recent power rankings from analysts and experts have them ranked at 12th, which again seems like an accurate assessment. The Chiefs enter this popular outright market as favorites, with both the sportsbooks and fans, at odds of around +550, looking to replicate their mesmerizing victory in the 2024 Super Bowl.

Teams have come into the season with much higher odds than this and lifted the Super Bowl. In 2017, the Eagles were at odds of +6000 to win it, and we all know what happened there. It’s undoubtedly wishful thinking that the Dolphins will be in the running for the NFL’s top prize this season though. We’d say the odds are representative. It’d be some story if the team that performed the way it did last year, especially in crucial moments, turns it around to win the top prize.

Responsible Gambling

Although interest in NFL betting markets continues to grow, especially as online sports betting becomes a more widely recognized subsidiary market, this highlights the importance of responsible gambling.

Betting on the NFL is meant to supplement your viewing; you should never view it as a source of income or exceed any initial time or deposit limits you set. These are tools that millions of gamblers use to ensure they keep their betting measured and under control.

You can also seek out self-assessments online to explore how problematic your gambling is. Additional tools such as cooling-off periods or self-exclusion can also be used to help. If you, or somebody you know, is exhibiting any gambling issues, you should seek advice from problem gambling charities and experts who can assist.

Individual Markets

There’s been some activity over the last few months, with the Dolphins adding to their practice squad. Dolphin’s wide receiver Tyreek Hill is the favorite to lead the NFL in receiving yards, with sportsbooks offering a market of around +500. Christian McCaffrey is the favorite for the NFL Offensive Player of the Year, but Hill is just behind him at +800.

These outright markets can take many twists and turns, and if McCaffrey picks up an injury and Hill can find a rich vein of form, such as the one that resulted in him being named to the NFL’s 2010 All-Decade Team, this betting market might shorten. The Dolphins' resurging quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa, is also +800 to finish with the most regular season passing yards. Snippets of promise are dotted throughout the team and the sportsbooks seem to agree.

Conclusion

While the outright markets for the team to perform might be much wider than some Dolphins fans might hope, the individual markets show that there’s still a lot of quality studded throughout the team.

If they can avoid the injuries that derailed last season’s strong start, then there could be value in some of these prices. Predicting outright markets before the season has begun can be challenging, even for the sportsbooks who have top analysts and statisticians trying to figure out a fair price.

Multiple variables must be considered, and while betting odds can be a great topic of conversation, they begin to make a lot more sense once the action is underway. We get to see which players are looking sharp, who has continued their form from last season, and whether there could be any potential surprises brewing. Hopefully, the Dolphins' surprise this season is that they can start the season well, carry on that form and make a solid push towards the end of the season.
