Every summer, fashion designers, brands and models from around the world fly into sunny Miami to celebrate swimwear fashion and debut the latest styles and trends in swimwear and beachwear. This year was one for the books— Nearly 70 top and emerging fashion designers came together to execute Miami Swim Week 2022 this past week at the iconic SLS Hotel South Beach. Organized by DC Swim Week, a series of dozens of stunning runway shows took place Wednesday through Sunday debuting new Summer 2023 swimwear collections from a variety of designers from around the world. From Dubai to Italy, Toronto, Los Angeles, Brazil and Miami, new stunning swimwear fashion made a major statement on South Beach in front of top media, influencers, fashionistas and global buyers from around the world.

This past week, DC Swim Week delivered a fabulous and diverse series of fashion runway shows like never before seen. Shows across the board featured curvy, plus-size brands, sustainable fashion brands, as well as stylish new emerging swimwear fashion looks. Body positivity, self love, and fabulous fashion as well as feminine empowerment were the major themes in this year’s Miami Swim Week 2022 shows.

When it comes to swimwear, it’s no easy feat to innovate and create new swimwear fashion that looks, fits and feels equally great. This year’s Miami Swim Shows didn’t miss— the stunning fashion looks and gorgeous models hit the runway for five consecutive days at the SLS Hotel South Beach and provided an added boost of life back into swimwear fashion. From everyday ready-to-wear beach attire for tropical cities like Miami to vacation and glamourous resort work and sultry bikinis, Miami Swim Week™ The Shows put on a massive swim week featuring over 70 top and emerging brands from around the world.
Luxury Italian swimwear fashion brand Bikinilista collaborated with Swarovski to provide chic swim vibes that captured the essence of the summer beach luxury lifestyle. The brand’s rich collection of fine bikini styles and uber chic color spectrums are sure to adorn the finest beaches from Ibiza to the French Riviera. In addition, GoldBarr™ gave us luxury and decadent cheek with beautiful resort dresses and tiny bikinis made from vegan leather as well as silky fabrics. Another major highlight from Miami Swim Week came from Normal Culture, a new swimwear line by Bad Girls Club TV personality Jelaminah. The queen baddies of the new South swimwear designer also brought out Bad Girls Club queen bee, Natalie Nunn, who rocked the runway in a beautiful flowing black one-piece swimsuit and cover up. In addition, Flo Rida was in attendance watching the shows and hitting the Miami Swim Week after parties at HYDE Beach.

Women in fashion often get the best accessories, ideas and shapes, especially when it comes to swimwear fashion. From micro string bikinis to one-piece athleisure swimsuits, we saw it all! Plus, the 2000’s iconic styles are re-emerging including low waist mini skirts and bikinis proving that less is more.
Albanian couture fashion designer Ema Savahl opened Miami Swim Week™ The Shows with stunning hand painted art turned into couture swimwear fashion. The opening runway show was hosted by The Little Lighthouse Foundation, which is a local Miami charity that is dedicated to improving the lives of underserved children and families— all proceeds from the show were donated to the LLF

Botanical Beach Babes hit the runway for numerous swimwear designers at the SLS South Beach and then continued the party at HYDE Beach.

From sexy bikini briefs with different prints, colors and shiny fabrics, to adjustable luxury board shorts, men’s swimwear fashion runway looks made a major mark.

Bikini geometry and shapes are the new trend as seen at Miami Swim Week 2022. When it comes to women’s bikini bottoms, we’ve seen a variety of sizes, triangles and ready-to-tan tiny bikini bottoms for curved, fit and skinny body shapes alike. Multi-fastened and customizable swimsuit silhouettes based on your form and body type are a major take away from this year’s runway shows.

Having customizable silhouettes and geometric designs also made swimwear fun and exciting this Miami Swim Week— giving consumers dozens of ways to wear one swimsuit fashion piece, making the look versatile, multi-functional and adaptive in numerous ways.

What we were most excited to see at this year’s Miami Swim Week fashion shows was how the fashion industry is continuing to move forward with new faces and models that are emerging influencers and models from TikTok and Instagram. Influencers from around the world walked the Miami Swim Week runway shows and are taking the industry to another level by making fashion more fun, shareable and a happier, more diverse place.

The Parties
Miami Swim Week™ The Shows hosted an epic Opening party at Baia Beach Club at the Mondrian Hotel hosted by Whilelmina filled with beautiful models, influencers, media and VOGA Italia Prosecco, Gema Di Luna and Ketel One. Guests witnessed the kick-off of Miami Swim Week in the best way, watching a beautiful Miami Sunset sipping champagne.
Not all the events during Swim Week were at night, the popular nightlife part app InList collaborated with Miami Swim Week™ The Shows to host a day-time SPLASH Pool Party and runway show @ the National Hotel featuring real life mermaids and four designers who gave us colorful designs, and inclusivity on the runway. The final closing parties included Maxim Magazine’s afterparty Saturday night at HYDE Beach following the ultimate final party hosted by Eliad Cohen, in which he also debuted a new men’s swimwear fashion line worn by hot male models, truly rounded out the Miami Swim Week series of events.

The Activations
During Miami Swim Week™ The Shows, guests had the opportunity to attend and watch swimwear fashion brands and stunning models hit the runways, but attendees were also able to attend the Hammock Shows at the New World Center where top Buyers from around the world could network with designers and fashionistas could shop their favorite new looks straight from the Miami Fashion Week runway. A PopUp Swimwear Market was hosted at Katsuya, inside of the SLS Hotel South Beach, as well as at the New World Center, featuring more than 60 swimwear and resort wear designers showcasing their new Summer 2023 swimwear collections.

Telemundo & NBC Universal fashionista and news anchor Daniella Duran were not only covering the angelic runway show put on by Lilian Montoya, but she was also in the runway show too! Not to mention HOLA TV , Style Culture TV, E! News and many more were in attendance covering the shows put on by DC Swim Week.
