Mutra Brings Bold, Global Flavors to North Miami’s Dining Scene

North Miami’s dining scene has a bold new addition with the arrival of Mutra, an innovative restaurant from Israeli-born Executive Chef and Owner Raz Shabtai. Named after his grandmother and culinary inspiration, Mutra is now open for limited reservations at 2188 NE 123 Street, offering a menu that blends Middle Eastern influences with global techniques.

Shabtai’s culinary philosophy centers on a farm-to-table approach, incorporating locally sourced ingredients while paying homage to the diverse flavors of his native Jerusalem. His menu is inspired by Levantine, Galilean, and Baladi traditions, reimagining classic dishes with modern techniques. Among the highlights are Beet 3 Ways Salad, featuring vegan tzatziki, pickled and grilled beets, and Kalamata olives; 1 Perfect Falafel, a croquette served with Israeli salad and pickled red onion; and the Chicken Liver Dreaming to Become Foie Gras, a rich pate with silan date honey and pistachio crumble. Larger plates include the 1000 Layers Steak, served with grilled pita, and the Uzbeki Seniya, a lamb kebab with tahini and sweet harissa.

Mutra’s dessert offerings, created by Pastry Chef Stav Stephanie Hayun, continue the Middle Eastern inspiration. Dishes such as Frishman Malabi, a coconut custard with rose water and pistachio crumble, and Katayef, a pastry featuring Issac’s lemon gelato and sumac, reflect the restaurant’s fusion of old and new.

Shabtai, a seasoned chef with experience in renowned New York and Israeli establishments, developed his culinary expertise through hands-on experience rather than formal training. His journey includes time at Nur, Alenbi, and Raphael, as well as work as a private chef for celebrities and high-profile clients.

Mutra’s 2,150-square-foot space seats 60 guests in a contemporary setting that highlights an open kitchen, allowing diners to engage with the cooking process. The ambiance is further enhanced by a curated music selection, designed to complement the flavors of each dish.

With a focus on sustainability, creativity, and redefining the concept of kosher dining, Mutra aims to carve a niche in Miami’s evolving restaurant landscape. The restaurant is currently open Sunday through Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. and Thursday until 11 p.m. Reservations are available via Resy, and more information can be found at www.mutramiami.com or on Instagram at @Mutra_Miami.
