Paws & Relax at The Betsy: A Pet-Friendly Haven in South Beach
Regally resting steps away from the Atlantic Ocean within the vibrant South Beach Art Deco District, The Betsy is arguably one of the most pet-friendly hotels in the country. The Betsy’s Petsies
Hotel guests are greeted by the resident pups at 5 p.m. every Friday for a CEO Cocktail Hour and can visit them all week as they make their daily rounds in the hotel. Being welcomed by the hotel’s four-legged friends is one of the most mentioned and treasured memories of a perfect Betsy stay.
Additionally, a Poetry Chapbook called DOG POEMS, edited by co-CEOs Betsy and Rosa and featuring a special poem by the late great American poet Gerald Stern, is available free of charge at the front desk. Betsy and Rosa’s story is beautifully told in a book entitled Rosa’s First Day as CEO. All of the proceeds from the sale of Rosa's book supports The Betsy ownership family's long standing after-school safe haven for orphaned and vulnerable children in Zimbabwe(zarascenter.org).
Visitors can also enjoy the hotel’s in-house craft Lager-Amber, aptly named “BetsyRosa.” Created by the hotel’s culinary team in collaboration with Miami-based brewery House of Motor Crafted Lifestyle, this exquisite Austrian copper lager is available exclusively at LT Steak and Seafood, The Alley and The Piano Bar, all located inside the hotel.
Paws & Relax with Your Pups
Not only does The Betsy cherish its resident pups, but as part of The Betsy’s pet policy, dogs of all sizes are welcome to stay. A one-time fee of $150 applies, with 50 percent benefiting the Harare SPCA in Zimbabwe, an animal welfare organization located in co-owner Lesley Goldwasser’s birthplace.
Guests can also enjoy canine-themed photography by Carlos Andres Cruz in the Underground Gallery, along with special treats and cozy beds, and doggie daycare, pet walking and spa services can be easily arranged by the concierge team. The Betsy’s culinary team prepares homemade dog treats available at the registration desk and offers ice-cold water in public areas for guest pups upon request.
