South Caicos, the secluded sister island of the Turks and Caicos archipelago, has become more accessible than ever with the launch of its first direct flight from the United States. American Airlines inaugurated this historic route from Miami on Saturday, March 15, 2025, operating twice weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays year-round. This new service eliminates the need for a transfer through Providenciales, significantly improving travel convenience for visitors.

The direct route marks a milestone for Turks and Caicos tourism, further cementing the country’s status as a multi-island destination. American Airlines is the first carrier to provide direct international access to South Caicos, a move expected to boost the island’s tourism sector and overall economic growth.

Among those on the historic flight, AA3815, were Governor, Her Excellency Dileeni Daniel-Selvaratnam, Minister of Tourism, the Hon. Zhavargo Jolly, Member of Parliament for South Caicos, Hon Tamell Seymour, and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, Mr. Wesley Clerveaux. (Photo credit: Earlson Robinson).
The launch of this new flight coincides with the grand opening of Salterra Resort & Spa, a Marriott Bonvoy Luxury Collection Resort, on March 8, 2025. The luxury property introduces an elevated hospitality experience with 100 guest rooms and suites, six dining options, and a full-service destination spa. Salterra joins the well-established Sailrock Resort, offering travelers a refined and tranquil alternative to the busier Providenciales.
