Coinciding with the opening of Thom Sweeney’s first Miami boutique, the collection takes inspiration from the city’s flamboyance and distills it into highly wearable, effortlessly cool staple pieces. Tailored and sharp yet relaxed and easy-going, there is a certain nonchalance seen throughout, with each piece designed to complement the next.
A neutral colour palette consists of soft stones, beige and browns and rich blues. This ensures an easy wearability, placing emphasis on innovative fabrics and construction. Elegant, lightweight tailoring is cut from linen, wool and silk, while new details include jetted pockets and wider notch lapels. A sky-blue linen jacket references 1950s glamour, while a white silk blend herringbone suit is 1980s Vice City.
Dressing down these tailored pieces is encouraged this season. An expanded T-shirt range includes renditions in lightweight linen and soft knitted cashmere silk. These are T-shirts but not as you know them, working especially well tucked into pleated chinos and under an unstructured blazer in place of a collared shirt. Polo shirts, too, have been refined and reimagined. The classic pique polo has been perfected, with a tailored cut, soft collar and unbelievably soft cotton fabric. The open-necked Skipper returns in a robust linen cotton blend and a chunky wide gauge option, while cotton jersey offers a smarter update to the long sleeve polo.
Moving into high summer, there are a wide range of beach-to-bar options. Open-neck polos are finished in terry toweling, offering plenty of texture and comfort away from the water. These can be combined with this season’s pleated linen trousers or the new drawstring linen jersey shorts, which embody the house’s refined approach to traditionally casual garments.
